17th Century Castle Hotel
Extensive Grounds, Lakes and Gardens ~ Spa and Beauty Treatments
AA Four Red Stars ~ Three Rosettes Restaurant
Swinton
Park is a privately-owned, luxurious castle hotel, set within 200
acres of parkland, lakes and gardens. Dating from the 17th century,
the castle today is an award-winning four-star hotel with 30 beautifully
decorated bedrooms and suites situated on the first or second floor
with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. Each individually-designed
bedroom is themed around a Yorkshire town, dale, garden, castle
or abbey and is fully equipped with modem points, WiFi access, CD
player, satellite TV, trouser press, drinks tray and coffee/tea
facilities. Gracious public rooms include the drawing room, sitting
room and morning room, furnished with antiques, family portraits,
fresh flowers and cosy fires in winter, creating a comfortable setting
where guests can relax. The sumptuous dining room, with its unusual
gold-leaf ceiling, offers the finest modern British cuisine, with
an emphasis on game, fish, vegetables, fruit and herbs sourced from
the family estate and hotel's walled garden.
The
hotel's courtyard conservatory is a light and comfortable spa,
with jacuzzi, showers and exercise and seating area. Guests
have exclusive use of the spa for up to an hour at a time
without charge, subject to guest demand. A range of health and
beauty treatments are also offered in luxurious new treatment rooms.
The Castle is set within 200 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens,
surrounded by the 20,000 acre family estate. Paths meander through
the gardens, woods and parkland past the five lakes, grottos, streams
and waterfalls, whilst the dales and surrounding countryside also
offers wonderful walks. Other attractions under an hour's drive
include abbeys, castles, historic houses, gardens, racecourses and
scenic beauty spots. Activities available at the hotel include bowls,
boules, croquet, falconry, fishing, golf, a gym, mountain biking,
model boat racing, kiteflying, claypigeon shooting and horseriding.
Special offers and themed breaks are available throughout
the year including Spa, Walking and Racing (see below).
Swinton
Park Cookery School is housed in the ground floor of the converted
Georgian stables, where Rosemary Shrager, the celebrated TV chef,
runs her programme of residential courses throughout the year (see
below).
Children
are extremely welcome at Swinton Park, with a playroom which
converts into a private cinema and a boot room full of kites, bikes
and other outdoor games. There is also an outdoor play area and
hours of walking in the parkland. Cots, highchairs, bottle warmers
and baby listening/baby sitting and a goody bag including Molton
Brown baby products, teddy bear, bibs, spoons and wipes are available
for babies. They also offer a Mother and Baby massage, where the
mother is given instruction on how to massage baby, leaving enough
time for her to enjoy her own massage too. We have sofa beds and
z-beds for the older ones who also get their own (more grown up!)
goody bags. Children aged 8 and over are welcome to eat from the
restaurant menu in Samuel’s. There is also a children’s menu, which
can be served as room service or in one of the ground floor public
rooms.
