Georgian Country Hotel set in beautiful gardens
Located in the unspoilt Eden Valley
Award-winning Restaurant ~ AA Two Rosettes
Temple
Sowerby House, built between the early 1700's and the1820's is a
mix of classic Georgian style and low, beamed ceilings. The hotel
offers a welcoming and relaxed environment for a stay in the scenic
Eden Valley. After a day's exploring some of England's finest
landscapes, guests can return to the hotel to enjoy a superb dinner
in the award-winning Restaurant, where Chef, Ashley Whittaker,
produces delicious menus specialising in seasonal produce sourced
from local farms and country estates including lamb, venison and
delicious regional cheeses. The 12 bedrooms are all individually
styled many with views of the pretty gardens or towards Cross Fell,
the highest peak in the Pennines. All rooms are very well appointed
and superior rooms offer a spa bath or hydrotherapy shower. Elegant
lounges with cosy open fires in winter are a perfect setting for
an aperitif, whilst in summer, drinks can be enjoyed on the sunny
terraces set within two acres of traditional walled gardens.
The
pretty village of Temple Sowerby, situated just outside the Lake
District National Park, is known as the "Queen of Westmorland Villages"
and is ideally located for discovering the unspoilt Eden Valley,
the Lake District and the North Pennines, one of the country's largest
Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The new bypass of the village
has returned Temple Sowerby to a truly peaceful spot, a lovely village
to stroll around in the evening sunshine!
Ullswater,
perhaps the loveliest of the Lakes, is within 15 minutes' drive,
while nearby Penrith marks the start of one of the 'World's Best
Drives' (The AA) along the A686 to Corbridge offering spectacular
views en-route. Hadrian's Wall, a World Heritage Site and the most
important monument built by the Romans in Britain, is a short drive
to the north.
Special
offers and short breaks are available throughout the year including
Easter and Valentines, plus wine tasting weekends and painting weekends.
Activity breaks can also be booked, including Quad Biking, Clay
Target Shooting, Fly Fishing and Abseiling.
Temple
Sowerby House is also the first choice for many people as a stopping
off point en-route to Scotland, being the mid point between London
and Inverness.
Offering
the highest standards of personal service, hospitality and fine
cuisine, Temple Sowerby makes an ideal base for exploring this beautiful
part of the country.
