The
Two Bridges Hotel nestles beside the West Dart River in 60
acres of private grounds in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park.
Built as a coaching inn in 1794, the hotel today boasts 33 attractively-decorated
bedrooms, comfortable lounges with huge log fires and leather armchairs
providing the ideal place to relax after a day on the moor and a
restaurant serving the very finest of West Country cuisine.
The
hotel's 33 individually furnished en-suite bedrooms and suites are
well-equipped with colour satellite television, clock radio, direct
dial telephone, baby listening service and tea and coffee making
facilities. Larger Historic Rooms have traditional four poster
beds and antique furniture, and also enjoy trouser press, ironing
centre and other little extras. For that extra special occasion
stay in one of the Premier Rooms such as the Chagford Suite offering
a magnificent Jacobean four poster bed and luxurious bathroom with
double spa bath, double shower, marble floor and gold plated taps!
Dine
in the 'Tors Restaurant' where the interesting and diverse menu
features the very finest local produce.
World
famous for its stunning scenery, the Dartmoor National Park
is best known for its rocky outcrops, woodlands and wild open stretches
of moorland. The moor has iover 200 granite 'tors' including Hound
Tor at Grimspound - the setting for Arthur Conan Doyle's 'Hound
of the Baskervilles'.
The
Two Bridges Hotel is an ideal base from which to visit Buckland
Abbey, home of Sir Francis Drake, Widecombe-in-the-Moor of 'Uncle
Tom Cobley' fame, Becky Falls and Buckfast Abbey, a working Benedictine
Monastery. Also within driving distance is Plymouth, where Drake
first sighted the Spanish Armada whilst he played bowls and 'the
steps', where the Mayflower sailed for America with the pilgrim
fathers. The attractive coastal resorts of Torquay, Paignton and
Brixham are also within easy reach, while further along the coast
is the beautiful South Devon 'Hams' comprising the picturesque towns
of Dartmouth, Totnes, Salcombe and Kingsbridge.
